OUR MICHIGAN MUSE: LISA MARIE PRANG

Every once in a while you meet a girl that makes you change the way you see the world - or your closet! That is exactly what we felt when we saw the work of Lisa Marie Prang. The moment we saw her style, we knew we had to have more. We caught up with her to discover her fashion secrets and Michigan finds.

How would you describe your style? Who are your style influences?

I would describe my style as feminine bohemian with a versatile edge! I've always really liked flow-ier (if thats even a word) clothing and it made it that much easier when the bohemian trend came into play. I love anything printed and will never turn down a great maxi dress or skirt! I try to take current trends add my own original twist. I honestly gain inspiration from my fellow lady bosses on Instagram and love reading InStyle magazine. I really admire those who stray from the norm!

What was it like growing up a fashionista in Michigan?

It's definitely been interesting haha! I've always loved to shop and style outfits. In high school I felt like I wore more stylish clothing however, I did feel like I was more shy to wear exactly what I wanted. I would put on super cute outfits in the morning and then think.. hmm, maybe it's too much? I would change right at the last second before leaving for school to jeans and a simple top. It wasn't until I graduated high school in 2013 that I really expanded my wardrobe. I started my fashion blog LMP Collections because I felt like I had all these ideas that I just wanted to share with the world. I started using a self timer and a tripod in a tiny ally behind our towns little grocery store (where no one could see me). Fast forward a few months later to college, that's when I completely fell in absolute love with fashion. I went to art school where I studied graphic design and I felt like going to school with fellow creatives I could really be and dress 100% myself. I started having my friends and family help me take pictures after I adopted my dads DSLR Nikon camera. I taught myself the ins and outs of photography and was already familiar with the adobe programs where I fell in love with Lightroom as my main photo editor. And now fast forward to today, I graduated college and I'm working hard every day to pursue my passions. You can now find me taking pictures in the middle of a busy NYC street wearing whatever the heck I want! Growing up in a small town in a state that may not be has fashionably advanced as others, fashion has not only brought me awesome friends and connections but confidence in myself that I never knew I had. As well as the courage to chase my dreams, no matter how big they may be.

What are your favorite places in Lansing?

If you ever happen to be in the Lansing area I definitely recommend a few places! As for food and drinks: Lansing Brewing Company, Golden Harvest (strangest yet coolest breakfast spot), and Juice Nation for yummy pressed juice! As for shopping, I typically travel to Novi, Detroit, Grand Rapids, or Holland to do most of my shopping! Holland in particular has really cute boutiques, dining, and a beach! Michigan is surrounded by all the Great Lakes and they are so beautiful!

Michigans best kept secret?

I would say the towns near the Great Lakes! They are always so homey feeling and I've had the best memories while growing up traveling around town Lake Michigan towns like Holland, Traverse City, and Petoskey!

If you could be a Lucy Paris piece which one would you be and why?

The Kala Ruffle Halter Dress 100%! This summer I've really been liking red hues more than ever! This red floral dress is so stunning. I love everything from the print, the cut-outs, and the flow. This is a dress I feel like would look good on any body style too!
